The Atlantis Storm Water Purification and Re-use System for Roads (SPARSR) is an integrated system that provides a long term sustainable solution for both new and existing road use. The SPARSR system is an a^?oeat-sourcea^?? infiltration system that treats contaminated road storm water and makes treated water available for re-use or for recharging ground waters.

Analyses of stormwater contamination in many areas clearly identifies high levels of dissolved and suspended pollutants including oil, grease, petrol, metals, nutrients and sediment that can create a cocktail more toxic than untreated sewage. The accumulation of toxins is flowing into our rivers, creeks, harbours and oceans causing substantial environmental damage.

Antiquated drainage systems contribute to the problem by acting as a carriage- way for pollutants and causing further degradation by increasing the velocity and laminar flow of contaminated storm water. This also results in many incidence of localised flooding.
